This boy has skills....

I'm a BIG boy!

Porter's teacher sent me this picture a couple of days ago!  Look how big my baby is getting! (it was Uncle Kyle's birthday so we had to put on our "I Love My Uncle" shirt to celebrate)

Have a good weekend!

8 Months Old!

Mr. Porter,
You are 8 months old (on 2/12/13)!  Some things to remember about this past month (this is a long one :)....

- We had your 6 month check up back in January.  We have since been to the dr. several times though (I'll get to that below) so I'll put your most recent weight, and just put your length from your appointment back in January (they don't check your length at every appointment, just your weight).  This past Friday you were 21 lbs!  The last time they took your length at your 6 month appointment you were 28 3/4 inches long!  That means you are a full 7 inches taller than you were when you were born, and 13 lbs bigger!
- You are wearing size 4 diapers.
- It seems like you are in a ton of different sizes from different places.  You are mostly in 12 month clothes, and some 12-18 month.  You are still very skinny and long.  You actually lost a little weight this month from the sickies.
- You are still in size 4 shoes.
- You are a pretty good sleeper still.  You hate the process of going to sleep though and fight your sleep SO bad.  You just want to play all the time!  You also aren't crazy about nap time.  Sometimes you go down great...and other times, not so much!
- We have you on baby food all 3 meals a day.  You actually are eating some big people food too and you LOVE it.  Once you get your other 2 teeth in I'll probably just move you to just big people food.  You would much rather eat it than baby food (I can't blame you!)
- You eat 8 oz. in your bottle.
- We have been giving you water every day and putting it in sippy cup.  You do ok with this but not great.  You just want to chew away on the nipple of the sippy cup.  I think I might have found one that you will drink out of without biting the top off....we will see :)
- At one of your dr. visits this month I asked her again about your consitpation issue because it just hurt you so bad.  She ended up having me start you on Mirilax and it has helped SO much!  We just give you a really, really small dosage in one of your bottles and it has worked WONDERS.  I am so very thankful.  I did not like to see you hurting!
- You still just have your 2 bottom teeth....and boy do you love them!  You are so proud of them!  I have some of the cutest pictures of you cheesing it up with your new teeth!  You've been working on getting your top 2 and the dr. said she wouldn't be surprised if they broke through soon.  The bottom 2 teeth didn't phase you but the top 2 seem to be hurting you more.  We have noticed you being a little more fussy with them but Oragel seems to help a ton.  You are such a passive, content baby!
- Daycare is still going great!  Your teachers brag on you all the time!
- We have been combing your hair in a comb over and it is the cutest thing ever!  I know someday you might hate us for it but you are SO handsome!
- You still say Dada ALL THE TIME....seriously, if you are talking you are saying Dada!  It actually cracks me up!  I think you have figured out too that if we talk to you, you can talk back!  We love it...it's almost like we are really having a conversation with you!  You laid in bed with us Saturday morning and daddy and I were talking to you.  I said "Mr. Porter, who is your favorite".  You replied back with "Dada!"....we laughed SO hard!  Of course you knew you were doing something funny after that so you just kept hamming it up.  I have a feeling you are going to have a funny personaility like your daddy!  This month you also figured out how to say "Haiiiiiii"....you'll hold your hand up like you are going to wave and say "Haiiiii"....it's SO cute!  You will only do this sometimes though.
- You started waving this month when we wave at you.  When I leave you at daycare in the morning I always turn around at the door and wave bye to you and you stick that hand in the air and start trying to wave!  It's the cutest thing!
- You also have started learning how to clap! You aren't great yet but you practice all the time!
- A HUGE milestone this month was you started crawling!!  You are the cutest crawler I have ever seen!  You are so dramatic and slap your hands down really big when you are scooting across the floor!  It is hilarious!
- You got a walker for Christmas (the kind you stand behind and push) and you love to stand up on it.  It is your favorite thing to do.  You do not like to be sitting down or laying down...you just want to stand up all the time!  I know you'll be walking before we know it!
- You have had lots of dr. visits this past month because we just cannot shake the ear infections!  We never know when you have one though because you are so good!  The first one was only caught because we had your 6 month check up and she checked your ears...apparently you had a double ear infection and we just never knew it!  You are seriously the best baby.  We went back a couple weeks later just to make sure your antibiotics worked and it was gone but you had another one in one ear (or you just didn't get over the first one) so we started another round of antibiotics!  Poor guy!  Luckily,  you got over that ear infection.  Last Tuesday, you started coughing really really deep and raspy.  Daddy and I were worried and decided we we take you to the dr. the next day.  Well once you were asleep, you had a coughing attack and ended up throwing up because you gagged yourself from coughing so much.  We called a local clinic to see if there was any medicine we could give you for it until we could get you in to the dr. the next day and they actually told us to take you to the ER!  We at first thought that was little extreme but your grandparents said we better be safe than sorry.  We agreed and knew we'd have a peace of mind if we took you.  We are glad we did because you ended up having bronchiolitis and ANOTHER double ear infection!  I felt awful because we didn't catch your ear infections but you just never cry or pull on your ears.  We go back next Tuesday for another check of the ears just to make sure the infections are gone.  If they aren't, tubes it is!

Porter Lee,
You are the most special boy in the world.  Everyday your daddy and I fall more and more in love with you.  You are the most special blessing to our family and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be your parents.  We are already praying for the man you will become one day and know God has big plans in store for your little life.  You are special.  You are important.  You are loved.  We love you to the moon and back, baby boy.

7 months old!

Mr. Porter,
You are 7 months old! Some things to remember about month 7....

- We had to reschedule your 6 month check up back in December because your doctor was sick so we don't have it until next Monday.  We had to take you in for a small ear infection though right after Christmas and you were right at 20 lbs.  She didn't measure you so I'm curious to see how long you are!
- You are still BARELY in size 3 diapers....in fact, after we finish this box we are moving on up to size 4's
- You are pretty much in 12 month clothes.  There are the occasional 9 month clothes you can wear but you are just growing like a weed!  I had Gigi monogram you a shirt for Christmas and you have worn it one time...and it was tight already!!
- You are wearing size 4 shoes.  We bought you the CUTEST pair of tennis shoes this month.  You are stylin'.
- You still sleep pretty good and are getting up about once per night.
- You are still not a napper...we need to work on this :)  You fight your sleep SO very badly before naps and before bed time.  I know you just end up exhausting yourself and eventually falling asleep.  You'd MUCH rather be playing with mommy and daddy!
- You are still loving baby food.  We have upped you to 2 meals a day (today you actually did 3 meals) and you are doing great.  You are just such a great eater and have been since you were born.  I don't think I'll ever have to worry about you cleaning your plate! You've pretty much tried all of the stage 1 baby foods.  Next time I go to Walmart I am going to get you some stage 2 baby foods to try so we can change your flavors up some.  You are not a fan of your veggies but LOVE your fruits.
- You still eat 6-8 oz, in your bottle.
- You take your juice in a sippy cup and so far you are doing good with that.  You do like to chew on the nipple of your sippy cup but that is just because you are teething.
- We give you one bottle of juice every day...usually Apple Prune because you are still having bathroom problems.  Your doctor told us not to worry about it but I just can't help it!  I don't like you hurting!
- You have your 2 bottom teeth!  It is seriously the CUTEST thing to see you smile!  They are not fully out but most of one is and about half of the other one is.  Its precious.
- Daycare is still going great.  They send you home with a Mohawk about half the time!  Also, everyone calls you Mr. Porter...even the little kiddos!  That is your new nickname.  We all just love you, Mr. Porter!
- Your hair is getting so long and growing in in a sandy brown color.  Gigi says its just like your daddy's hair when he was your age.
- This month you said "Dada"....seriously! It was the sweetest, most precious things I have ever heard...and I am pretty sure your daddy would agree!  (I'll try to post the video below)  I am trying hard to get you to say "Mama" but you are pretty content with "Dada".  I am just happy to hear your little voice!  It is music to your Mama's ears, baby boy!
- You did get to see your first snow this past month too.  It wasn't a big one by any means but it was still snow!
- You've started crossing your pointer and middle finger some and it cracks me up!  I'll just look back at you in your carseat and you'll be sitting there with your fingers crossed.  Too cute.
- You are doing GREAT at sitting up and even sit in the big boy part of the buggy at the store now!  You love being able to look around and see everything.  You are going to be very inquisitive I think.
- You LOVE to stand up and bounce....I mean you seriously LOVE it.  Mama is going to have some AWESOME biceps if this keeps up!  Daddy and I bounce you and fly you around all the time and you just have a ball.
- You love to stand up too.  We got you a big barn for Christmas and the other night we were playing in the floor with it with you.  We stood you up next to it and you just stood there all by yourself without any support from us!  I just can't believe how big you are getting!
- You'd love to master crawling but you just aren't quite there yet.  You have mastered getting up on all fours but you just don't like to pick your head up. I think you'd be content just standing on all fours with your head on the ground! It is funny!
-  I wouldn't be surprised if you just took off walking one day.  Seriously, you are SO active.  You may be an early walker like your Mama...and you might surprise me and not be too! Either way, when you do become mobile, there will be no catching you!
- Last month we celebrated your first Christmas.  Once again I caught myself saying that that was the best time we've had with you yet! You are just getting more and more fun everyday! You weren't quite sure what was going on, but you did know you were the center of attention. You hammed it up BIG time!
- You also went to Tulsa for the first time to visit Uncle Jeff, Aunt Rhonda, Amanda and Alex.  You did a GREAT job on the car ride over and home. You didn't cry at all and just watched your movie or napped the whole way over.
- I still can't get over how happy you are.

Porter Lee,
I wake up everyday loving you more and more.  I don't know how that is possible because I feel like I already love you so very much!  Daddy and I text all day long about how much we miss you and are ready to be home with you every night. You are the topic of our conversations these days!  We love you SO very much and hope you grow up always knowing how crazy we are about you.  You are the most perfect little man and we could not be more thankful to have you, baby boy.  We love you to the moon and back.

Love,
Daddy and Mommy

6 Months Old!

(this is 6 days late...Porter was 6 months on Wednesday, 12/12/12!)
Porter,
You are SIX months old!  That means we are officially half way to your very 1st birthday!  Some things to remember about month 6.....
- We have your 6 month check up on Monday so I don't know your stats yet.  I do know that you are a BIG boy.
- You are still wearing size 3 diapers
- You are in all 6-9 month clothes now.  I keep having to appologize to your teachers though because you are getting SO big for most of your clothes that they are getting hard to snap!  I am just trying to make it to Christmas because you are getting a BUNCH of new clothes for daycare...hopefully we can hold out another 10 days!
- I squeezed you in your size 2 boots and Converse one last time last week (tear).  You are officially in size 3's.
- You are still sleeping pretty good.  You usually get up once per night and that usually happens around 4a.  So you technically are "sleeping through the night" I guess, if we could just get you to wait until 6a!  You do go back to sleep after your 4a waking once I give you your bottle.  You usually just drink for a minute, then you fall right back asleep.
- You still aren't much of a napper.  On the weekends, you sometimes just take a couple of 30 minute cat naps a day.  You do sleep better for them at daycare though and somtimes take a 2 hour nap during the day.  I think you just think when you are home on the weekends with mommy and daddy it's play time!  We sure don't mind!
- You are still eating 6 oz. in every bottle.  We do have the occasional 8 or 10 oz. bottle but you usually are fine with 6.
- You're doing good with your baby food.  We have upped you to 2 meals a day of baby food.  You eat lunch and dinner and you love it.  You have had green beans, peas, sweet potatoes (you got sick), carrots, bananas, apple sauce, pears and peaches. You still aren't crazy about your veggies so we are going to have to work on that! You LOVE fruit though. You haven't had any that you don't like.
- Daycare is still going great.  They are working with you on so much right now and I love that!
- This month, you started sitting up!  You still aren't great at it, and you do fall over frequently but you are doing pretty good when I let go of you.  You will sit up for 20-30 seconds, then fall over.  I bet once your tummy muscles get worked some more, you'll be a pro!
- You are still having bathroom troubles.  We have tried everything.  It just seems to hurt you so bad.  I am going to ask the doctor about this at your appointment on Monday.
- When you are in your rocking chair, you have started trying to sit up and get out of your rocking chair!  I can't leave you for a second because I am 99% sure you'd flip out of it, even though you are buckled in!  When you become mobile, we are going to have to watch out because you will be ALL over the place!
- You still don't have any teeth but you are still drooling ALL of the time.  And also always have your hands in your mouth still.  I know it can take a while to cut teeth so I am curious to see if you have any come in any time soon.  Your little gums sure are hard and they do look a little bit white.  We will see!
- You had so much fun at your first Thanksgiving!  We gave you little bites of pumpkin pie and mashed potatoes.  You LOVED them.  We serioulsy couldn't get them to your mouth fast enough!
- You saw Santa Claus for the first time last weekend.  Let's just say it started out fine, then went downhill fast!  You were fine until I sat you in his lap and you looked up and saw who had you....you played with his beard for a minute and then kind of freaked a little!  It was too funny!
- You want to crawl very bad!  We will lay you down and you immediatly roll to your belly.  Once you are on your belly you'll push up on your little arms and do the "inch worm".  You don't really go anywhere but it's hilarious!  I think it makes you mad though because you  want to move around.
- We put up our Christmas trees and you love them!  You have your own in your bedroom and it's of all of mommy and daddy's ornaments from them growing up, dating, getting married, and having you!  Someday, I hope to tell you stories of where each came from and what they mean.
- My favorite thing is the fact that you like to snuggle!  I don't know if it makes you feel secure or what but I like to think you just like lovin' on your momma!

Porter Lee,

You are a precious gift.  I can't believe we have had you for half of a year already!  Mommy will be planning your big first birthday bash before we know it!  You have blessed our lives in so many ways and we are so thankful for your sweet personality!  You can make anyone smile with that gummy grin!  Always know that mommy and daddy are your #1 fans and we are forever thankful for you! We love you to the moon and back, little man!

Love,
Daddy and Mommy
