I have been bad at blogging these past 2 weeks! We went to Big Cedar last week and when we got home, our computer crashed....not that that's a good excuse because I could have found someone else's to blog on, but it sounds better than just saying I have been busy, right?
Anway, this week I am 22 weeks! We have had a LOT happen since i last updated but I'll let you read below to find that out :)
Here I am at 22 weeks!
Pregnancy Highlights:
How far along: 22 weeks!
Size of Baby Avey: Papaya (8 in., 1.2 lbs) - We finally brke the one pound mark!!
Gender: BOY!!! SURPRISE!! We went to the dr. 2 weeks ago and found out that our sweet baby girl is actually a precious baby boy! We were in a little shock but we are SO happy! He is helthy and already being spoiled by everyone. And just because I know I'll be asked, no we did not buy a ton of girly things because we knew that 15 weeks was early to get our first ultrasound and we wanted to be sure at our 20 week ultrasound. Porter Lee Avey will make his grand entrance on June 19th and we couldn't be more excited!
Maternity clothes: Pants = Yes, Tops = No. They are starting to get shorter though along with my dresses!
Movement: YES! And it is unbelievable! I felt him move for the first time Sunday, January 29th. I honestly had NO idea what I was waiting to feel so at first I thought it wasn't anything. But then for the next few days after that I felt the same thing around the same time every day. Now they are little more defined kicks so I know its him! I still can't feel him big yet and Nate can't feel him from the outside, but hopefully soon!
Sleep: I have slept like a rock this week. And I have been extremely tired right after lunch time but after an hour or two I am usually fine until bed time.
Symptoms: Nothing right now
Cravings: Nothing really
Best Moment This Week: Picking out Porter's material for his bedding! I can FINALLY decorate, buy clothes, etc because we know for sure what we are having. It is SO much fun too! I am going to keep his room a secret for now and once its all done I'll do a big reveal on the blog!
I told you we had a big surprise! I have been asked many times if I am sad that we aren't having a little girl to dress in frilly dresses or big hair bows and all I can say is no. We are SO happy to have a healthy baby with 2 arms. 2 legs, 4 chambers of the heart, a good brain, 2 eyes, and the list goes on. I never really knew how nervous I was for our 20 week appointment until we got there. I was excited about finding out the sex for sure, but just wanted the dr. to tell me there was a perfectly healthy baby in there. God answered that prayer. He looks perfect and is right on track. I couldn't ask for a better answer. We decided to name him Porter Lee. This name is a special name to Nathan and I. Not only do we love this name because its unique and not heard often, but we love this name because we get to honor 2 people who have been big parts of our lives.
Porter was my Papa's name. He passed away 3 years ago this July. He was the best Papa a girl could ask for. He had 3 daughters and 7 grandkids and a ton of other family that loved him to the moon and back. We all like to think that we were Papa's favorite but honestly, I think Papa's favorite had to have been each one of us! I think he had a favorite something about each of his grandbabies. He had special nicknames for each of us (mine was Chrisamatino) and we each have special memories with him. Anyone you ask will tell you he was the hardest working, most genuine person they ever met. I can't think of a better way to honor my Papa than to name our sweet baby after him.
Lee is Nathan's middle name. Nathan was named after his Papa too, Marion "Jim" Lee Kilpatrick. Like me, Nathan grew up very close to his Papa too. I never had the privilege of meeting him but from what i have heard, he was also a great man. I know him and my Papa are bound to be friends up in Heaven and would be so excited to have another little great grand baby!
These past 2 weeks have been a whirlwind! I finally hit the midpoint in my pregnancy and its just crazy to think that 22 weeks have already gone by. We only have 18 weeks left until the little man's due date. I feel so excited, overwhelmed, anxious for these next few weeks to go by. We have really enjoyed getting to know OFFICIALLY that we a little boy in there and we love getting to buy him little man clothes, pick out room things, and all of the other fun things that come along with it. I am so blessed and so excited to start this new chapter in our lives with Porter. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue on this journey of becoming parents!
