6 Months Old!

(this is 6 days late...Porter was 6 months on Wednesday, 12/12/12!)
Porter,
You are SIX months old!  That means we are officially half way to your very 1st birthday!  Some things to remember about month 6.....
- We have your 6 month check up on Monday so I don't know your stats yet.  I do know that you are a BIG boy.
- You are still wearing size 3 diapers
- You are in all 6-9 month clothes now.  I keep having to appologize to your teachers though because you are getting SO big for most of your clothes that they are getting hard to snap!  I am just trying to make it to Christmas because you are getting a BUNCH of new clothes for daycare...hopefully we can hold out another 10 days!
- I squeezed you in your size 2 boots and Converse one last time last week (tear).  You are officially in size 3's.
- You are still sleeping pretty good.  You usually get up once per night and that usually happens around 4a.  So you technically are "sleeping through the night" I guess, if we could just get you to wait until 6a!  You do go back to sleep after your 4a waking once I give you your bottle.  You usually just drink for a minute, then you fall right back asleep.
- You still aren't much of a napper.  On the weekends, you sometimes just take a couple of 30 minute cat naps a day.  You do sleep better for them at daycare though and somtimes take a 2 hour nap during the day.  I think you just think when you are home on the weekends with mommy and daddy it's play time!  We sure don't mind!
- You are still eating 6 oz. in every bottle.  We do have the occasional 8 or 10 oz. bottle but you usually are fine with 6.
- You're doing good with your baby food.  We have upped you to 2 meals a day of baby food.  You eat lunch and dinner and you love it.  You have had green beans, peas, sweet potatoes (you got sick), carrots, bananas, apple sauce, pears and peaches. You still aren't crazy about your veggies so we are going to have to work on that! You LOVE fruit though. You haven't had any that you don't like.
- Daycare is still going great.  They are working with you on so much right now and I love that!
- This month, you started sitting up!  You still aren't great at it, and you do fall over frequently but you are doing pretty good when I let go of you.  You will sit up for 20-30 seconds, then fall over.  I bet once your tummy muscles get worked some more, you'll be a pro!
- You are still having bathroom troubles.  We have tried everything.  It just seems to hurt you so bad.  I am going to ask the doctor about this at your appointment on Monday.
- When you are in your rocking chair, you have started trying to sit up and get out of your rocking chair!  I can't leave you for a second because I am 99% sure you'd flip out of it, even though you are buckled in!  When you become mobile, we are going to have to watch out because you will be ALL over the place!
- You still don't have any teeth but you are still drooling ALL of the time.  And also always have your hands in your mouth still.  I know it can take a while to cut teeth so I am curious to see if you have any come in any time soon.  Your little gums sure are hard and they do look a little bit white.  We will see!
- You had so much fun at your first Thanksgiving!  We gave you little bites of pumpkin pie and mashed potatoes.  You LOVED them.  We serioulsy couldn't get them to your mouth fast enough!
- You saw Santa Claus for the first time last weekend.  Let's just say it started out fine, then went downhill fast!  You were fine until I sat you in his lap and you looked up and saw who had you....you played with his beard for a minute and then kind of freaked a little!  It was too funny!
- You want to crawl very bad!  We will lay you down and you immediatly roll to your belly.  Once you are on your belly you'll push up on your little arms and do the "inch worm".  You don't really go anywhere but it's hilarious!  I think it makes you mad though because you  want to move around.
- We put up our Christmas trees and you love them!  You have your own in your bedroom and it's of all of mommy and daddy's ornaments from them growing up, dating, getting married, and having you!  Someday, I hope to tell you stories of where each came from and what they mean.
- My favorite thing is the fact that you like to snuggle!  I don't know if it makes you feel secure or what but I like to think you just like lovin' on your momma!

Porter Lee,

You are a precious gift.  I can't believe we have had you for half of a year already!  Mommy will be planning your big first birthday bash before we know it!  You have blessed our lives in so many ways and we are so thankful for your sweet personality!  You can make anyone smile with that gummy grin!  Always know that mommy and daddy are your #1 fans and we are forever thankful for you! We love you to the moon and back, little man!

Love,
Daddy and Mommy

Thankful

This year I have SO very much to be thankful for.  I could literally go on and on and on about everything we have been blessed with this year but I am sure we all could.  So....I'll just list a few things below that I'm thankful for this year, so that when I look back at this silly little blog in 20 years, I'll be able to remember just how blessed our family has been.  This is in NO way everything I am thankful for, it's just a few.

Our little family of 2 became a little family of 3.  Porter has brought more joy to our lives than we ever imagined possible.  That little boy has seriously stolen our hearts.  There is no word to describe the feeling of being a mommy.  There is also no word to describe the feeling of seeing your husband become a daddy.  It melts my heart seeing Nathan interact with Porter.  There is nothing that makes me happier.  Those boys are my life and I thank God every single day for making me their wife and mommy.

My sweet, supportive husband.  He is seriously the best, hands down.  I can't say enough about him.  Like I said above, seeing him become a daddy has just made me love him more and more.  He is in love with our little boy and that makes my heart happy.

Jesus.  His love and grace are what get me through each and every day.  I can't imagine going through life without him.  Because of him, I am going to live eternally in Heaven.

Like I said, I am BEYOND blessed and I could go on forever about every little thing I have been blessed with in this lifetime.  I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy time with your family!  What are you thankful for?

5 Months Old!

Porter,
You are 5 months old! Some things to remember about month 5....
- Since I didn't blog it in your 4 month post, you were 16.5 lbs and 26 3/4 long at your 4 month checkup. You have grown since then so I can't wait until our 6 month appointment to see how big you are getting!
- You are still in size 3 diapers
- You are in some 3-6 month onsies but mostly 6-9 month. You wear 3-6 and 6-9 month pants. You won't be in the 3-6 month ones much longer because they are starting to look like high waters!
- You are still in size 2 shoes but my guess is you'll be in size 3 by Christmas time.
- Your sleeping has been a little off lately. You are still going to sleep great, you just have been waking up some during the night. Once i put your bottle in your mouth, you usually go back to sleep pretty quickly. There have been a few nights you just want to sit and play so hopefully we will get past that soon :)....although, you are so cute and smiley it really doesn't bother me to get up and see your sweet face at 2a!
- You are still eating 6 oz. every 1.5-2 hours but you have eaten 8 oz. several times recently and even a couple of times 10 oz.! You are a growing boy!
- We have tried baby food this month since your pediatrican gave us the thumbs up and you aren't too sure about it yet. I think you like the idea of eating it, you just can't quite get past the texture. It is SO funny to watch you! We started you out on oatmeal and you loved it and did great with it! After a few days of oatmeal, we introduced green beans, then carrots, then sweet peas, then sweet potatoes. You honestly didn't love any of them but I think it is just you getting used to the new texture and eating from a spoon. You don't like sweet potatoes though so I don't think we will be trying those again anytime soon!
- You sat in your highchair for the first time to eat your food and it was a MESS! Your daddy and I just cracked up! You did so good sitting up at first but about half way through, you got tired and started sliding over....you then started pushing food out of your mouth and it gtot ALL OVER. It was too funny! We have been feeding you in your little rocking chair since then and will try the highchair when you get a little better at sitting up.
- You still love daycare....and they still LOVE you.
- You roll over ALL the time. I mean ALL the time....everytime we lay you down you somehow end up on your tummy in .5 seconds! You are FAST! You still don't love being on your tummy though so that usually doesn't last too long. You either flip back over or let mommy and daddy know that you are ready to not be on your belly.
- You are almost able to sit up! We lay you down and you hold on to our fingers and we count 1....2....3 and pull you up. You LOVE this. I know that any day now you will be sitting up all on your own like a big boy! You like being in your Bumbo for this very reason.
- You are pretty much holding your own bottle unless you are tired. If you are tired you want us to hold your bottle and you will lay your arm across your eyes. It is too cute!
- You still love your toes. If you are on your back (and haven't rolled over) then your feet are always by your mouth.
- You've still had some trouble going to the bathroom so we are still giving you juice. It seems to help most of the time. We usually give you Apple Prune juice.
- When you are sitting up in someone's lap or in your carseat it is hilarious because you have started crossing your feet! Any time we have you sitting up your feet are crossed. We laugh all the time at how cute you look when you do this!
- You went on your first road trip! We went down to Mena to the deer lease daddy is on and you did AWESOME! You cried one time and it was just because you were hungry. Once you were fed you were good to go.
- While we were at deer camp, we let you suck on a grape. You went to town on that grape! You loved it!
- I'm also pretty sure you are cutting a tooth. You drool ALL.THE.TIME. We have to change you a lot becUse yor clothes get so wet!

Porter Lee,

This past month was so much fun with you (then again, all months are)! You are really starting to interact with me and daddy and we LOVE that. You are the light of our lives and we are so thankful that God entrusted us to be your parents. I know we are so undeserving of such a sweet, precious gift but we will forever be so thankful for you! We love you to the moon and back baby boy!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
