THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

{one}
We had a Christmas dinner at the house with my friends from high school a few weekends ago.  It was so fun and I got some fun pictures of the kiddos...this one is always up for cheezin' for the camera!  I love being his mommy!

 {two}
P is really into taking "selfies" right now...I am not a big fan of selfies but I will say, I could look at this boys alllllll day.  He is CUTE!  I usually have 308934 of the same picture..but seriously, can you really get enough of this sweet face?

Speaking of selfies, P got to play with the Camwow app on mommy's phone the other day...I was rolling!  This child is funny and he doesn't even know it.  I had to share with daddy and the grandparents!

And just in case you didn't know...we are a bit dramatic.  We were so excited about our new Scooby-Doo cereal at Gigi's the other day!

He earns his keep at the grandparents houses too....this boy LOVES his laundry!

We hope you have a very Merry Christmas and remember the real meaning of the season!

Give Thanks

I've tried every year since I started this blog to do a list of things I am thankful for.  Since I more than likely won't get on the computer tomorrow, I thought I'd post my list of things I am thankful for today.  This is in no way EVERYTHING I am thankful for...there is just too much because I am one blessed girl!  But, these are just a few things that come to mind when I think about the past year.

My boys.  They are my biggest fans.  And they ALWAYS keep me laughing!  For that I am thankful.  Nathan does a great job providing for our family and always making sure we are taken care of.  He is the perfect example of a leader.  Porter is the funniest little boy you will ever meet!  He is always wanting to make people laugh and always showing out.  I am so thankful for a healthy, happy baby boy.  What a blessing he is to his daddy and I!

Our jobs.  Nathan and I were both blessed with new positions in new companies within the last 3 months.  Mine has allowed me to stay home with Porter and Nathan's has allowed him to pursue his dream job.

Our big ole' families.  From our moms and dads, to our siblings, to the many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents we have, we are beyond blessed to be so close to our families!  We still have get togethers every holiday (and sometimes in between!) with all sides of both of our families and I love it.  I don't know many people that still do that.  I love, love, love my family.

Our home.  It's warm, cozy and somewhere we love coming after a long day at work.

Church family.  We have been blessed with a GREAT small group.  We met our best friends in our small group and have watch our friends get married, start families and go through wonderful and hard times with them.  I am so thankful for this group of people.

Health.  I always know this is a blessing but this one is one I alllllways take for granted.  This past year has reminded me just how big of a blessing being healthy and having a healthy baby is.

Like I said, I have a thousand other things I could write here.  This is just a small, small portion of what I am thankful for.  What are you thankful for this year?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

 We went to Nathan's parents house one night this week and on the way home, I turned around to this....and it was only 6:15p!  Needless to say, at 2:30a, this little man was ready to paaaartay!

 Bed head + new teeth = a happy baby boy!  I could just eat him up with a spoon!

We are leaving today after work for deer camp in south Arkansas.  Nate and I have been texting each other all day saying how it's been the longest. day. ever.  Today is also his last day of work!  He starts at his new company in a week and we are excited!!

5 on Friday!

We hope you all had a Happy Halloween!  Now on to our Five on Friday!

This past weekend, we took the car through the car wash.  I don't think Mr. Porter liked it too much...

We were out shopping one night which is something we hardly ever do with just us 3.  I usually go with my mom to all of the girly shops or to get Porter things.  And Nate...well, he just hates shopping for anything except camo, a gun or a new truck.  Anyway, we went shopping one night and decided to stop in Petco to look at the critters.  I snapped this picture walking into the store.  Aren't they sweet?  I LOVE this relationship between daddy and his boy.  It makes my heart so, so happy!

Yesterday was Halloween!  My little pickle dressed up as a cow and might I say, he's the CUTEST cow I have ever seen.  He was so funny and knew that he was the center of attention!  I love this little cow and his BIG personality!

{four}
I took this picture one night when we were at my in-law's.  This is Porter and his cousin Charlotte in his electric jeep.  I have no words.  It made me flash forward 15 years and think about the mess these 2 would be!  I sure love these babies!

I have been watching Christmas movies everyday...for at least the past 2 weeks.  I am SO excited about Christmas this year!  Porter is so much fun right now (and exhausting ;)!  I am a little worried about putting my tree up so early though.  Nathan is NEVER gentle with my ornaments (ornaments = airsoft gun targets) so I know I'm really in for it with 2 boys in the house!  We will see I guess!

Have a fun fall weekend!  The leaves here are absolutely beautiful...I hope to get some pictures of my boys outside this weekend!

Pumpkin Patchin'

This past weekend, we finally made it to the pumpkin patch.  We have had some crazy weekends for the past month or so, so Sunday afternoon we had a family afternoon and went to our favorite pumpkin patch, Dickey Farms!  Let's do a little comparison, shall we?

Porter's first pumpkin patch visit, 2012
Sweet, sweet baby.  Melts my heart.

This year's visit was a little more....interesting.  We had a blast but Porter was not quite as excited about taking pictures for mommy!  Oh well!  He is still cute and still made us laugh the entire time! These pictures make me realize just how fast this past year has gone.  It feels like we were just there last year letting Porter see his first pumpkins.  Love this boy to pieces!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday, y'all!

{one}
Last Saturday we headed to the craft fairs.  We had SO much fun.  I didn't get to stay near as long as I'd have liked to but I did get to spend it with this cute girl and her mama and grandma!  My mom couldn't come but we decided next year we were taking Friday off and were going to spend the whole weekend craft fairing.  We have some great ones in NWA!

{two}
Last Saturday, we also had my brother's LAST homecoming!  He is a senior this year (cue the tears).  He looked so handsome and it is so fun that he lets me come see him at his events.  I love that we are so close!  He is one of my favs!  My favorite part about him is how much he LOVES his nephew...I think the feeling is mutual!

I don't think it's any secret that I LOVE Target.  I'm a frequent shopper!  Last week when I went  I found this fun nail polish and had to have it!  It's Essie brand and I think it will be super fun for the upcoming Christmas season!

 {four}
This past week, we had a HUGE answered prayer.  Nate has been working on a job opportunity for almost 3 years now and this past week they offered him the job!  He will start in November and we could NOT be more excited for him.  He has waited patiently for a long time and I couldn't think of anyone more deserving!  To celebrate, we went out for pizza!  Porter LOVES lemons so he had to have one as an appetizer.  I love this boy....and his daddy too!

Yesterday was...interesting.  I woke up at 6a like normal and started getting ready to work.  I usually have my computer ready to go around 6:25a because I like to be early...what can I say!  Even working from home I'm an early bird!  I pulled up my systems and our internet DIDN'T work.  I was starting to stress because I've only been on this job for about 2 months now.  I text my boss, then got on the phone with AT&T.  They passed me around to several departments and before I knew it it was 8a.  I decided I just needed to go work at my mom's because I was getting no where with AT&T.  I looked in the driveway and my truck wasn't there....Nate had taken it to work yesterday.  That left me with his truck which is a stick.  Sadly, I can't drive a stick!  So I had no way to get to my mom's house.  Luckily, my mom-in-law was passing by our house to head out of town so she brought me her car and we took it to my mom's.  It was a VERY interesting and weird day.  I was happy when it was over.  I had a hair appointment last night which made it all better!

As you can tell, Porter didn't mind being at Ma's house yesterday!

Have a great fall weekend!

Better late than never!  Happy Friday!

Tomorrow I am going to the craft fairs with my friend Maranda and her mom.  I am excited!  I love the craft fairs!  The trees are turning and the drive out there is just beautiful!  Hopefully I'll find some goodies too!  I am all about supporting small businesses and the craft fairs are just the place to do that!

{two}
Nate rebuilt a golf cart into a hunting buggy....I'll definetly have to post pictures of it.  I knew I was married to a redneck but this is just hilarious!  We have been taking it for drives every night down to the lake and on the back roads.  We live out in the country so we aren't taking it on any major highways.  Both of my boys have been having a ball!  Porter looks forward to this every night!

This was the best picture I could get while driving (please excuse the horrid hair!)

{three}
This past weekend we hung out at Nate's parents house.  Poppy had some work to do on the tractor so Porter tagged along and helped....saftey first, folks!

{four}
In case you didn't know this, Porter is OBSESSED with outside ("side").  He will cry and cry and cry until we take him outside to "ride" or see the "goooooats".  I love this about him!  So happy for a baby that likes to be outside! Here we are feeding the goats one day last week.  He loves to run up the the fence and then run away from it once the goats start coming to him.  I think he thinks they are playing "chase".

Porter wanted me to tell everyone "Happy Friday!"

Have a great weekend!!

This past weekend was opening weekend of bow season.  You know what that means?  I have officially lost my husband until 2/28/14...that's the last day of bow season.  That means that Porter and I will have lots and lots of weekends spent with Ma.  I don't think she minds hunting season one bit ;)

{two}

Saturday I went with Nate's mom and 2 of his cousins to see the musical Wicked.  I honestly had no idea what it was about.  I knew it was a spin off of The Wizard of Oz but I wasn't sure what to expect. It was great!!  I knew it would be because I had only heard good things about it...but it beyond exceeded my expectations.  Next month, White Christmas is coming here to NWA to the Walton Arts Center...you better believe I'll be there!  That is my absolute favorite Christmas movie!  I may or may not be watching it right this second....weird I know but I can watch this movie all year round!

{three}

I am thinking that next weekend we will make our family trip to the pumpkin patch.  I cannot WAIT to take Porter this year!  He was so cute last year so I know this year he will be so much fun since he'll be able to run around and pick out his own pumpkins!  If you are looking for a pumpkin patch to visit this year, go to Dickey Farms...they are the BEST!  And just so you remember how cute he was last year....

Cutest pumpkin in the patch!!!

Last Wednesday was Nathan's birthday!  Porter made a very special gift for his daddy!  Nathan is not a bit proud of his boy ;)  The other day he was telling me just how excited he was for Porter to get a couple of years older so he could join his daddy in the deer woods.  Makes my heart happy to think of them being the best of buds as Porter gets bigger!

{five}
I've never met a child that likes to be outside so much.  Porter will literally cry until we let him outside sometimes.  We have to keep him occupied or he will stand at the door or in the window begging to go outside.  I am SO thankful he loves the outdoors!

Have a great weekend!!

15 months!

Mr. Porter,
You are 15 months old (almost 16 months now)!  We had your 15 month check up last week and boy have you grown!

- You are weighing in at 27 lbs. 8 oz. (98%)
- You are 33 1/4 inches long (97%)
- They said you are perfect...but I could have told them that! :)
- You are currently wearing a size 6 diaper
- You are also wearing size 2T bottoms and either 2T or 3T tops.  You are long.  I just know you'll be a big boy like your daddy!
- I've never met a more active child in my life.  You are ALWAYS on the go.  If you are awake, you are running.  You never ever walk.  Running is your way of getting around these days.  Some nights mommy and daddy fall into bed because you wear us out!  We LOVE it so much though and wouldn't trade your energy for the world.
- Your absolute favorite word is "go!"....you say it no less than 54757815 times a day!  It is sooo funny.  You always draw out the "o"...it's usually more like "goooooo!"
- You can say "go", "mama", "dada", "night night", "ma", "Sarah", "side" (outside), "bite", "uh-oh", "this", "dog", "goat", "cow", "deer", "cat", "bottle"....I think that's it.  By no means do you say all of these on a regular basis.  Several you say all the time, others you say when you want to.
- You've started noticing when mama gets her phone out to take a picture.  You will turn your head or quit what you are doing...just like your dad!  Rotten boys!  You will still smile and goof off for the regular camera though.  I have got to get better about having it out all the time.  My phone is so much easier to get out and snap pictures with.  But I know I'll regret not having those pictures on my big camera someday too.
- You hate watching TV.  You will not sit still to watch it.  BUT, as soon as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comes on, you get really still and will watch him for about 15-20 minutes at a time.  It is too funny!  I don't know what it is about that show but it's the only one you will do that for.  Maybe it's because they sing all the time??  You love, love, love to dance to Mickey.  I think that might be what it is...it's good dancing music for you!
- You're the best eating little boy I have ever met.  The only things I have really found that you won't eat are boiled cabbage and eggs.  The other day Aunt Rando fed you pickled okra...and you loved it!  I am so very thankful that you aren't picky!
- You aren't scared of anything.  I try to follow you everywhere because I am so worried of what you might do.  You climb on everything and love adventure.  I've always heard that boys need adventure....and I so believe that now!  I just have to keep praying for the good Lord to keep his hand around you when I can't be with you...otherwise I might go gray by 30!
- You love animals.  I am so glad you do!

I am sure I could write a million more things about how fun you are right now!  You just get more and more fun by the day!  I am sad I haven't kept up with writing these monthly but hope to get back into the habit of at least every 3 months so someday when you read back on these you'll know exactly what you were doing at every stage in your life!

Porter Lee,
Nothing can put a smile on mine and your daddy's face like you can!  You are the happiest, most spunky baby boy and I am so, so thankful for you! We were reminded a couple of weeks ago at church, just how precious life is and how blessed we are to be parents to such a sweet, precious baby boy like you.  I can't believe I am writing about you being 15 months old right now...it's so bittersweet.  I miss you needing me to do everything for you....but oh how I love watching you grow and learn to become a little boy.  Always know how much mommy and daddy love you.

We love you to the moon baby boy!
